What is Local Law 97 New York?
Local Law 97 was included in the Climate Mobilization Act, passed by the City Council in April 2019 as part of the Mayor’s New York City Green New Deal. The law represents an ambitious attempt to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in New York City. It sets thresholds for carbon emissions for buildings of 25,000 square feet or more, an initial standard that takes effect in 2024 and a steeper limit required by 2030. The goal is to reduce the emissions produced by the city’s largest buildings 40 percent by 2030 and 80 percent by 2050.
Our team understands the importance of solar films in home and office environments, and the huge effect it has on heat, glare & UV.
Residential and commercial window tinting is not only used to cut out the heat & glare by up to 80% but also create much needed privacy during the day for clients.
Many of our clients complain of the afternoon sun glaring on to computer screens, televisions and into their eyes. All our sun control film comes with 99% UV protection.
The UV 99% protection will also help block out the harmful UV rays on home furnishings and shop front displays.
So What Does That Mean To The Commercial Building Owner, Property Manager, Or Facility Engineer?
Commercial Insulating Window Film
Our Technological advancements have increased the energy efficiency of windows since the days when single pane clear glass was the universally accepted building standard in the United States. No matter how efficient a window is on paper, is still an inefficient building material when compared to brick, concrete, plywood, and drywall installed with insulation.
Excessive heat transfer and heat loss create temperature imbalances that HVAC systems are designed to cure, albeit at a significant up-front and monthly cost. Our 3M commercial window film is a retrofit product that when properly installed can help reduce heat transfer and loss by decreasing a window’s Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) and U Value, all without changing the appearance of the window!
Window film from APG is a fraction of the cost and headache of window replacement and almost as effective. Refer to the table below to see how 3M’s Thinsulate Climate Control 75 Window Film can reduce the U Value of a single pane window to almost that of double pane as well as offering a 35% improvement in reducing the sun’s total solar energy.
